@The123wicked Now to me that sounds far more ridiculous. Having them on wires and swaying about would just look corney. I'm so glad they went with the route of Heely's where they can glide and dance. I personally also love the costume. It creates the illusion of being underwater and the nature of swimming. In fact I love how the creative team took a more unconventional approach to this production. It has the Disney/fantasy appeal in it's visuals. The other route is too common & cheap.

I really love her voice and I think she's a great Ariel. My only complaint at all would be I think that she's a bit of an over dramatic actress, especially at 2:38. I'm not saying that I could necesarily top her performace; I don't think THAT highly of myself, but I thhing she has the potential to do better. But overall, amazing performance. im sorry but apart from john lloyd young iwho plays franki in this vid the whole cast are like a local school play compared to londons west end version, vocally and in choreography. watch a west version to the right its so much better. even then this franki only compares to londons franki equally at best. in my opinion west end version is so much better.

I"ve got to say, john lloyd young isn't nearly as good as john michael dias, who was an understudy who i saw in indianapolis recently. dias' voice was incredibly pure and sweet, and he didn't miss one note in the entire show. its a shame that young is getting so much hype and credit while there are younger less well known actors who play the part far better.

Wow! I forgot this. This was mae back in the days when our Seattle area was not full of so many non respectful, low-life,wanna-be, dirt-bag, ignorant and selfish loosers. LOL, "may be one of the best"??? George is likely the best living traditional jazz guitarist, or at least top 3. Can't really think of anyone who is in his league at what he does. Extremely talented singer? Really? You must've something from her that I didn't. Her voice in Rent was weak, uninspired, and not noteworthy to the people who cast her (according to Chris Columbus she was cast because of her sweetness); hardly the caliber of a professional vocalist.When your voice is average, your acting should be amazing...hers wasn't. She was cute as Mimi but I couldn't see the baggage that so defined her. Daphne's "questionable" singing served her character sketch.

Afterward, Mr. King made only a few more films. (Don't confuse him with actor Charley King (1895-1957) who appeared in 400 films from 1915 to 1953.) Being 40 years old, the studio may have wanted to develop a younger star. He kept performing on the stage and died? of pneumonia while working in England.

Yes, the music is great throughout. Get the Singin in the Rain DVD and among the extras will be the scene in which Bing sings "Temptation." Love that dramatic ending to the song when Bing holds that higher note. The younger Bing was pretty cool. The rumour is Davies insisted Bing get the part. Bing insists both were drunk when the two did the "We'll Make Hay While the Sun Shines" scene. The waving daisies may them both feel sick. Ha, ha.

The 1938 film is especially entertaining. Yet to be DVDed, the great Marion Davies Bing Crosby vehicle directed by Raoul Walsh, "Going Hollywood" (1933). Lots of Brown Freed songs in that one. Features one of the longest extended closeups ever, of Davies, for nearly the entirety of "Our Big Love Scene"
