The most amazing thing about this show, aside from the performances, is how they took an animated feature film, with not one single human character in it, and transformed and translated it so brilliantly to the stage. The imagination, costumes, puppetry, and artistry are just amazing!

apparently, the original lyrics were "with the sun rolling high/In the sapphire sky" like in the movie, but they had to change it because the giant sun made everything orange, including the blue background. (at 4:48 the sun is turned off)

Watched this in London. It was amazing but bad at the same time. Loads of things went wrong which was annoying. The elephants got stuck up the isle so there were loads of spaces on the stage And the sun was all crumpled up when it rose up. Couldn't hear scar either in be prepared. However, looking past the faults, it was incredible.

saw this last night in london's lyceum theatre and was amazed! the elephant and rhino came right down the centre and i was amazed! the whole show blew me away, especially the girrafes. i love the film and knew every song off by heart. definantly the best experience ever

this was my first Broadway show. saw it in 2006 and i was in the 3rd row center.... the BEST Broadway show I've ever seen. and i have seen a lot. it is amazing (its still on Broadway right?)

Can't believe it's been 12 years since this performance, seems like I can remember it like it was last year. Took me seven years to finally see the show (caught it in 2004 in San Francisco) and I was blown away. I can honestly say the opening scene is the greatest opening of any Broadway show. (I had the chance to see it the previous year in New York but chose Phantom - that was a tough choice.)

I actually saw this on Valentines 2010...the best $82 I ever spent! I saw it in Bushnell, Hartford, CT though...a few differences...costumes were exactly the same, but at the Bushnell they had a real Pride Rock, and the dance setup was different.

I remember first seeing this show when I was eight. Now 10 years later I still watch the entire show wide eyed and excited. This just shows how timeless not only the story is, but also how well Julie Taymour's directing brought this into a form that all age groups could love

When I was 13 I got to see Jason sing this on Broadway. It may be hard to believe since the recording of this song is so gorgeous, but hearing this song live was 10 times better. I swear that the entire theater was holding their breath in awe as he sang this song. When he finished there was complete silence for a second or two. Everyone was so mesmerized, it took a second to realize that the song was over. That's when a roar of applause broke out. Jason's gone, but his talent will last forever.

I just saw it a week or so ago and I loved it ^_^ The only thing I didn't consider was "The Morning Report". I never really liked that song, and seeing it in the musical didn't help XD But, everything else was great :D My fav part was "The Madness of Scar". The part with him flirting with Nala was pretty amusing. I hope to see this show again real soon. It was totally worth going through the freggin city for it (I HATE cities because of the pollution and huge crowds of people :P).

Actually only one of them is also in Lion King II - "He Lives in You." Additionally, 3 songs from the album "Rhythm of the Pride Lands" were rearranged and given lyrics to fit into the musical - "Lea Halalela" became Shadowland, and "Lala" became Endless Night, along with HLIY - to which the lyrics were changed slightly. Since the Broadway Musical (1997) came before TLK II (1998) the producers thought that HLIY would make a great opening for the movie, and it did :)

i agree. i remember in our retreat back in high school, the facilitators made us watch the Lion King because of the biblical lessons one can pick up from the movie.
